La alimentación intuitiva no es solo la ausencia de trastornos alimentarios

La alimentación intuitiva es un patrón de alimentación adaptativo. Esto significa que es más que un simple patrón de alimentación libre de conductas alimentarias desordenadas, lo que lo haría algo neutral. En realidad, es un patrón de alimentación que fomenta activamente la salud y el bienestar. Eso lo hace más que neutral, es positivo.

Como señalan los autores del estudio, “las personas que comen intuitivamente no rumian sobre la comida o la dieta, clasifican los alimentos en categorías ‘buenas’ o ‘malas’, ni ignoran sus señales de hambre. En su lugar, seleccionan los alimentos que disfrutan al mismo tiempo que permiten que su cuerpo funcione opcionalmente, confían en las señales de hambre para determinar cuándo y cuánto comer, y respetan sus señales de saciedad al abstenerse de comer cuando están cómodamente llenos «.

Entonces, no solo NO hacen las cosas negativas, sino que activamente hacen las cosas positivas.

La alimentación intuitiva se asocia constantemente con niveles más bajos de alimentación desordenada y restrictiva, preocupaciones sobre la imagen corporal y angustia psicológica (las cosas negativas), y niveles más altos de imagen corporal positiva, apoyo social y calidad de vida (las cosas positivas).
